This Saturday: FRIGHT FILMS

The horror film is a genre as old as cinema itself, dating to 1896, and it’s never lost its sinister allure. Some of the most beloved horror films came from a time before gory makeup effects, prosthetic limbs, hapless teenagers, and a reliance on cheap shocks (“jump scares”). Whether influenced by German Expressionism - as is the case with several films in this lineup - or by pioneering Hollywood creature features, both vintage and modern fright films continue to intrigue filmmakers and audiences alike.
