Orphan diseases, or rare diseases, are individual diseases that affect less than 200,000 people. Approximately 30 million people nationwide have a rare disorder, which are typically genetic, and thus are present throughout the person's life. Rare diseases often get overlooked yet there is a great need for more therapies to treat and study them further. Join Hal Hoffman, MD, as he explores a number of these overlooked diseases and sheds light on why it is important to better understand them. (#20691)
