Junctional Instability and Network Hyperexcitability in a Focal Cortical Dysplasia Human Model

4 minutes

Avansini et al. generate a human cortical organoid model for focal cortical dysplasia that recapitulates dysmorphic neurons, balloon cells, and neuronal network hyperexcitability. Alterations observed in adherens junctions suggest a ventricular zone instability that can predispose to cellular and functional immaturity. (#37874)
